Background
The Rajasthan Chamber of
Commerce & Industry (RCCI) has traveled a long journey of
more than fifty years achieving new horizons in the social,
industrial and financial sectors through its
multi-dimensional activities. Swiss Agency for Development
and Cooperation (SDC) entered unique collaboration with RCCI
with the objective to initiate employment and income
generation activities through promotion of Micro and Small
enterprises initially in the two growth oriented sub-sectors
namely ‘Textile’ and ‘Gems & Jewellery’. This orientation
Phase I started in October, 1998 and need based demand
oriented purposeful interventions were carried out till
September 2001.
The Phase II
(1.10.2001–30.9.2006) was focused on the various
interactions and interventions for upliftment and
empowerment of Micro entrepreneurs/Micro enterprises in the
sub-sectors – Wool & Woolen Products, Rural Craft &
Culture, Agro & Food Processing and Textiles.
The Phase III (1.10.2006 to
30.9.2008) focused on;
i) Promoting
innovation/creativity among group of Artisans, SHGs, MSEs
through supporting extra ordinary activities which otherwise
do not get support from mainstream Institutions.
ii) Training, Capacity
Building of Group of Artisans, SHGs, BDSPs and MSEs on need
based and demanded skills.
iii) Strengthening of BDSPs
through specific support/capacity building for their
sustainability.
iv) Leveraging of resources
from other development agencies, Government Departments in
favour of Artisans, MSEs, BDSPS.
v) Capacity Building of
RCCI Project team members on specific skills, and
vi) Documentation of
interventions and success stories
