Jahota:
A small village near Chomu, with 25 block printing units,
40 households engaged.
Women traditionally engaged in thread work, supported through
BDS in 2 SHGs, given training in embroidery and stitching
resulting into wage increase by 20-25%, new linkages with
exporters/printers made and direct marketing done through
exhibition participation
Kaladera:
10 kms. from Jahota, with 45 printing units, 150 people engaged
in textile printing and dyeing.
2 women SHGs created through BDS, who participated in 3 local/national
exhibitions, opened bank accounts, bagged and executed direct
orders from Delhi, got artisan identity cards. Future plans
include network creation with more collaborators, SHG institutionalisation,
common washing plant etc.
Shivdaspura:
10 kms. from Sanganer, village has about 50 women engaged
in Kantha work & stitching.
2 women SHGs created through local BDS, given advanced training
in lace work/embroidery, linked with cluster actors at Sanganer.
Opened a showroom at EPIP doing direct marketing of made-ups.
Padampura:
5 kms. from Shivdaspura, the rural women had no income generation
means until RCCI
approached.
25 women were collected in a SHG, given training in stitching
garments, built capacity through credit disbursement from
local bank, linkages made with local markets through BDS provider.
Muhana:
6 Kms. From Sanganer, a small
village consisting over 2000 BPL families. A 13 women CIG was
formed and linked with Sanganer based trader (BDSP) M/s Shipli
Sansthan, who provided them fine embroidery training on Silk
and fine Fabrics. In turn he bought back the textile suit
pieces as a marketing support. This activity not only
generated confidence amongst the community but has instilled a
sense of self reliance amongst them
Today more then 4-5 such groups
have sprung up in the village & adjoining villages creating a
model for women empowerment through successful BDS approach.
